UI/UX Engineer
About the Role
Airtonomy is a fast-growing team of software engineers, robot specialists, aviation experts, and machine learning professionals building the software that industries are adopting for managing their drone fleet. Airtonomy is more than just drone management, we use advanced computer vision techniques, neural networks, and emerging technologies to autonomously capture, package, transport, integrate, and act on data.
The software you create will be used to interface with our autonomous robots, cloud services, and supportive tooling. While working in a fast-paced environment with smart team members, you'll be responsible for understanding business requirements and constraints and converting them into coherent, effective, and usable interfaces. You’ll also implement, test, and review applications.
Responsibilities
Design the overall end-to-end user application experience, prioritizing a clean, sophisticated visual design and a highly intuitive, efficient operation
Collaborate with product personnel, stakeholders and developers to define and implement innovative problem solving for simple, intuitive, and elegant solutions for complex design problems
Translate and develop concepts into wireframes and mockups that lead to easy and effective user experience
Prepare detailed specifications from which software products will be designed and/or candidate will translate documented designs into software products
Design, build, and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, HTML, and CSS code
Assist with strategic design and user experience decisions related to existing and new features
Advocate for the best experience for the end user
Devise UI and UX strategies based on our goals
Conduct user research including internal and external users
Create and maintain digital assets, including interface design files, wireframes, and interactive mockups using design and prototyping tools such as FIGMA
Create and maintain reusable style guides
Requirements
4+ years professional experience developing web UI/UX solutions for complex and dynamic data driven applications
UI / UX design work professional portfolio
Candidate must be able to work independently and bring tasks to completion
Education typically acquired via bachelor’s degree or appropriate combination of education and experience
A solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues, web standards and best practices
Familiarity with user-centered research, such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews
Strong, conceptual thinker who possesses a wide range of design capabilities, including: web, responsive, blog, UI and brand development
Experience in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
Strong communication and listening skills, and pay close attention to detail
Open and receptive to design critique but also able to represent your own work
Resourceful, demonstrating the ability to problem solve and find multiple design solutions
Ability to rapidly prototype and components
Understanding of application performance
Preferred Experience
Proficiency using Git version control
Proficiency using FIGMA
In-depth knowledge of user-centered design and workflows
Experience with Svelte and Tailwind CSS
Experience with robotics, aviation, or machine learning
Experience with Go or Python
Exposure to continuous integration and delivery

Work hours are flexible and regulated by the projects and work product required by your team and team supervisor.
